To the rosy clouds in the western sky.

Are young brides in the setting sun;
8 ^9 B+ { D$ S' Q: ~Their reflections on the shimmering waves
/ l% S$ W1 c' l3 ^. `9 |4 h3 tAlways linger in the depth of my heart.
8 Z8 o' }+ _6 O1 fThe floating heart growing in the sludge ' V$ f, w* t& |8 p
Sways leisurely under the water; ! g: I7 w0 X+ j; N# W
In the gentle waves of Cambridge
- F, t, |) W/ CI would be a water plant!
# k. N2 s% R( }# O* _That pool under the shade of elm trees + I- p! a8 z6 U: _
Holds not water but the rainbow from the sky; 5 e# _/ l3 R2 B( W
Shattered to pieces among the duckweeds ( c% u5 ]! r% x: a( k
Is the sediment of a rainbow-like dream? ; K9 C+ }$ l- q& t; U4 \) q1 A
To seek a dream? Just to pole a boat upstream
1 u9 J( ^9 b! P) A- e! vTo where the green grass is more verdant; 8 f8 @4 }, h- P2 p( q* F5 p* L; V
Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight 3 e) U( e6 ~0 p; {
And sing aloud in the splendour of starlight.

Quietness is my farewell music;

向青草更青处漫溯,

但我不能放歌,

夏虫也为我沉默,
